Literature Text

The Legionnaire was one of the few survivors of the Securitron assault on the Fort during the Second Battle for Hoover Dam. As the Securitrons overran the Legion’s base, he and his regiment were charged with helping Caesar in escaping the destruction unleashed so they could return and destroy the NCR in the future. Unfortunately, he failed in his mission, as Caesar and his praetorians were cut down by the machines. This, coupled with the Courier’s victory over Legate Lanius at the Dam, led to the collapse of the Legion. To regain his lost honour, he would migrate between the disparate tribes that once formed the Legion, eventually returning to the Mojave and taking up arms in the newly-formed colony of Aurelia, situated in what was formerly known as Cottonwood Cove. He would fight for the Legion in the years to come, under the command of Aurelius of Phoenix against both the Securitron army of New Vegas and the returning NCR forces.

This service would come to an end shortly after the Fall of Vegas. With the tunnellers and dust storms from the Divide coming in from the west and the collapse of the Legion’s empire in the east, Aurelius lost his mind, declaring himself King of Aurelia. As more of the legionnaires in Aurelia accepted the rule of the new king as absolute, the colony descended into a cannibalistic society, run by a mad king with an obsession for “Wind Brahmin.” Disgusted by what had happened to the remnants of the Legion he knew, the Legionnaire began the long trek west towards Nipton, where he’d heard rumours of another centurion by the name of Burned Bull had set up camp.
The first of three short introductory pieces to the DUST storyline. Each will revolve around a different character's backstory, only one of which will see the ruins of New Vegas and live long enough to escape (or die trying).
